Martin Luther King in one of the meetings he held. Martin Luther King Jr . (was born Michael King Jr.) on January 15, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Was an African American Baptist minister, social activist, and leader of the civil rights movement in the US.  Had led thousands of nonviolent protests that brought out positive results and made him known internationally at an early age; and also became a target for white supremacists who firebombed his family home earlier in 1968.
